Yes, that's true. Half
of the gain you get when phasing verticals comes from confidence of success. I didn't even
try to compete in the pileups with my inverted V.
My vertical system consists of three 18 m high elements. They are made of 6 m aluminium
tubing at the bottom and 12 m fiberglass telescoping masts from Spiderbeam at the top. The
elements are placed in an L configuration and I can endfire them in pairs getting gain in
four directions. Total cost for the system < 400 Euros.Read
